Itinerary: The weekend will officially start with dinner on the Friday night at 19:00 (arrival from 18:00) after which will be the first singing session. On Saturday, there will be plenty of singing as well as a 'free' session giving you the opportunity to explore the local area. Participants enjoyed the flexibility of having packed lunches on Saturday and Sunday on Singing In... the Lakes 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 so, we will repeat this arrangement for Singing In... the Lakes 2020. There are some wonderful walks of varying levels of difficulty and the town of Keswick is just 20 minutes walk away (about a mile). The weekend will end with a final run through of all the repertoire that's been worked on. The final timetable will be drawn up in the week leading up to the event so that the weather forecast can be taken into account for the free session.

Included in the Price: all meals from Friday evening to Sunday lunchtime; accommodation; tea / coffee breaks; all tuition and music.
Optional Extras: A single supplement (for a twin / double room for single occupancy) £100. Please note that there are three single rooms available at no extra cost but these are on a first come, first served, basis.
Rooms: All rooms are ensuite and have towels, soap and shampoo, a hairdryer, a radio clock alarm, a small television (Freeview) and tea / coffee making facilities.

Typical Experience: The weekend is ideal for singers who currently sing in a choir, those who used to sing but haven't done so for ages or for those who sing in the shower but don't yet have the confidence to sing in a group. The emphasis on this weekend will be fun music making. You will be amazed at the music we can make with our voices! All levels of singers welcome. Please note, participants must be over 18 years.
Repertoire: The repertoire will be drawn from folk, pop, world, traditional and classical genres and will be a mixture of a cappella and accompanied (by piano / ukulele / guitar / percussion).
Kate Shipway: Kate is an experienced choral director, workshop leader and vocal coach. She was the founder Musical Director of the Wigan Community Choir, Kate loves to enable and encourage people to sing. As well as running her own choir under the Singing In... brand, Kate is musical director of Romulus Singers (a mixed voice chamber choir based in Hale Barns), Cheshire A Capella (a female a cappella chorus), Vocal Expressions (a ladies choir in Holmbridge). She sings alto in Sine Nomine and lead in SK4 (an a cappella quartet).
Open to singers of all levels: this weekend offers a wonderful music making opportunity in beautiful surroundings, with comfortable ensuite accommodation, lovely food and homemade cakes.
