Singing In...

Singing In... is a family-run organisation, initially formed by father and daughter team, Bob and Kate Shipway. The organisation is now led by Kate and her husband, Pete Burchill. We bring communities together to sing and make music and provide high quality, enjoyable singing holidays in beautiful places.

All the team have much experience in their own fields of expertise, Pete as an arts manager and events co-ordinator, Bob as a coach and facilitator, and Kate as a musical director, music teacher and vocal coach.

Singing In... the Lakes #1

8-10 April 2016 was the first Singing In... holiday. Set in the beautiful location of Derwent Hill, Portinscale, Keswick. Participants enjoyed singing a wide variety of songs including folk, traditional, pop, world, classical genres, jazz, and a cappella.

Singing In... the subsequent years

Each year we have welcomed previous participants together with singers new to the Singing In... experience. 2022 saw the highest number of participants to date

Singing In... Choirs

In 2019 we launched weekly choirs in Oughtibridge, Stocksbridge and Bamford. Our choirs currently meet in Grenoside and Hillsborough and are open to anyone who wants to sing. There are no auditions - ever!

We would love to see you at one of our choirs or at a future Singing In... event. Our Singing In... the Lakes weekends are now a firm fixture in the Derwent Hill calendar. Each year we have a good number of returning participants together with those joining us for the first time. Many of those joining us for the first time hear about Singing In... through word of mouth recommendations and our Facebook page.
